A Town Council/Manager system sees to Louisa's business, and the Council meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Office. With a population of about 1500 residents and occupying 1.88 square miles, Louisa's revenues come principally from Real Estate taxes at a rate of $0.195/$100, and Personal Property taxes rated at $0.71/$100. The Town of Louisa is part of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District and is the County seat of Louisa County.
