Due to a 12” water main break in the county affecting water production by the Louisa County Water Authority. The Town of Louisa has implemented a mandatory water restriction in efforts to prevent shortages of safe potable water for all town residents connected to the public water systems. Crews are actively working on repairing the break which is expected to be completed sometime in the late afternoon.

Any violation of the mandatory restrictions during the emergency declaration will be enforced as a Class 3 Misdemeanor.

No watering of outside shrubbery, trees, lawns, grass plants, home vegetable gardens or any other vegetation.

• No washing of cars, trucks, trailers or any other type of mobile equipment except at a licensed commercial car wash facility.

• No washing of sidewalks, streets, driveways, parking lots, service station aprons, exteriors of homes or apartments, commercial or industrial buildings or any other outdoor surface except where mandated by federal, state, or local law.

• No operating of an ornamental fountain or other structure making a similar use of water.

• No filling of swimming or wading pools requiring more than five gallons of water, or the refilling of swimming or wading pools which were drained after the effective date of the declaration of emergency.

• No fire hydrants are used for any purpose other than the suppression of fires.

• No serving of water in restaurants, unless requested.

• No operation of water-cooled comfort air conditioning that does not have water-conservation equipment in operation.

• Any additional water uses restrictions as deemed necessary.

The Town of Louisa appreciates the publics assistance with this matter. The Town of Louisa is working hand in hand with the Louisa County Water Authority to ensure that services are not interrupted.
