“Save Lives… Not Seconds”

The officers of the Louisa Police Department want to focus your attention on our crosswalks. By increasing awareness as to the responsibilities of the driver and the pedestrian we hope to make your experience here in Louisa a pleasant one.

§ 46.2-924 of the Code of Virginia outlines the responsibilities related to crosswalks. The following excerpts will summarize key elements of the Code.
The driver of any vehicle on a highway shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian crossing such highway: …At any clearly marked crosswalk, whether at mid-block or at the end of any block… No pedestrian shall enter or cross an intersection in disregard of approaching traffic.
The Louisa Police department wants you to “Save Lives…Not Seconds”

The Town of Louisa has marked their crosswalks very clearly. Drivers, we remind you to please slow as you approach a crosswalk and look for pedestrians. Pedestrians, we remind you to cross at the marked areas and to look before you enter the roadway. Together we can keep Louisa safe for everyone.
